The Power of Storytelling

Our passion and purpose is driven by our ability to share lived experience of what it means to struggle and thrive while living with mental illness. Whether delivering mental health workshops or public speaking engagements, we openly and authentically share the personal challenges and successes of mental illness.

Telling a story of lived experience is what forges deep human connection and is the most powerful means of delivering a message. It conveys meaning, authentic value and is relatable in ways that simply stating ‘facts and figures’ cannot offer.

Changing the Narrative of Mental Health

While working for one of Australia's leading telecommunication companies, Chuck Anderson (Living to Thrive co-founder) created, delivered and chaired the organisation's largest and most successful mental health and mindfulness program.

This program stemmed from his personal challenges with mental illness where he wanted to show others that it was OK to struggle and succeed while living with mental illness.

Over a five year period, this program supported over 9,000 employees nationally, with engagement from executive leadership and support from the company Board. Through his vision, passion and the support of many, the program created a space for the topic of mental health that did not formally exist.

Ultimately, the program resulted in five separate sub-initiatives, engagement of over 4,000 employees in over 300 events and activities held across Australia, measurable improvements in workforce wellbeing, inclusion and engagement. With heartfelt gratitude and humility, he has left a powerful legacy at the organisation that continues to thrive.
