Psychological Safety Leadership 1-Day Training

What is Psychological Safety?

The term Psychological safety was first coined by a Harvard professor, Amy Edmondson. Her research focused on psychological safety as it applies to work for teams. She defined psychological safety as:

a belief that one will not be punished or humiliated for speaking up with ideas, questions, concerns or mistakes, and that the team is safe for interpersonal risk-taking.”

Feeling safe to speak up on an issue or present an idea without fear of embarrassment or ridicule is essential in fostering cohesive and successful teams. Psychological safety is the glue that binds close relationships within a team. Without it, all you have are stressed out, unproductive and unhappy staff looking for new employment.
